Genius...or maybe not

Christmas 2012 is officially over at the Hirschman house. Gifts have been put away (mostly), outside decor is down, and I am in charge of taking down the tree. I am also in charge of putting the tree up once November rolls around, and I kick myself each year for not taking the time the previous year to pack the lights in a way they are not a tangled mess. Today I am attempting to not make the same mistake. This year I took a heavy box lid (Ralph Lauren box lid to be precise...thanks Bishop family) and made slits in the sides to wrap each strand of lights around. Come next November, all I will have to do is unwind from the lid and tangled strands of lights will be a thing of the past...hopefully.

I think I like reading blogs because in doing so, it's almost like getting to read someone's diary. Growing up, I LOVED finding the secret spots my sister would hide her diary/journal and then read as much as I could without her knowing. It was a glimpse into her secret world, a way that I could learn things about her that I didn't know (and could sometimes use against her), and I way to learn how to be more like her. I, on the other hand, have never been one to keep a diary/journal myself. Sure, there have been many attempts, but I never had the good hiding spots. My siblings always took delight in finding said hiding spots, reading my thoughts, and then promptly making fun of me for what I had written. Also, I've never had anything worth documenting. With all this said, maybe I'll try blogging. I like to read blogs, so maybe they will give me a starting point to document random thoughts...and if not, at least I will have another place to post pictures of my favorite little person, my niece. Garrity. Or maybe it will be a spot my siblings can gain new topics to make fun of me. Now to figure out how to post pictures....
